About us

Located in Monterey, VA, Highland Medical Center, Inc. (HMC) is a non-profit, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). The medical center opened in 1996 as the first organized healthcare facility for people living in Highland, Bath, and western Augusta Counties in Virginia, as well as in eastern Pocahontas County and southern Pendleton County, West Virginia.

Highland Medical Center provides sustainable, affordable access to excellent health care, supports optimal health, and meets the wholistic needs of the individuals in our communities through collaboration and professionalism.

The Highland Medical Center Foundation was created in 2005. The Foundation’s specific purpose is to operate for the benefit of Highland Medical Center, Inc. by raising funds to ensure the longevity of HMC.
